Custom Pistons

If you require pistons that are no longer available or require pistons made to suit your requirements we can help.  With nearly 40 years experience in supplying custom pistons we can work from a drawing or a sample piston.  When there are no drawings or sample pistons we can also design the piston working from a block and head.

When a sample piston is supplied we take all dimensional details in one of our three in house coordinate measuring machine.  The dimensional data taken from either our Aberlink Axiom 2, Extol or Renishaw Cyclone is then used to create the basic CAD model of the sample.  The CAD model of the sample is then modified with any changes required bore size, valve pocket diameters or depths, compression ratio etc.  When the basic CAD model is finalised the CAD file is then sent to CP or JE to be completed utilizing the best forging they decide is most suitable for the application.  If no suitable forging is available the pistons can be machined from billets.

When required we can also produce in house a 3D print of the piston dome, dish and valve pockets for trial fit.
